Paid in full

Rakim is considered to be one of the best rappers ever. He stood apart from others as his rhyming deviated from the simple beats of his era. His free rhythm style ignored the bar lines and he employed stoic, relaxed delivery with his rhymes. He was not energetic but had a writerly style and was one of the first to deploy internal and multisyllabic rhymes. When it comes to being an MC this is considered a hallmark of complex and advanced rapping and this earns respect from the critics and from fellow rappers. In music, as well in any other field, superior skill does not mean commercial success or public recognition.

In order to experience world at its fullest and get most of this life, I suggest that every person with a skill set that sets them apart consider the following.

Build your business around your lifestyle - not your lifestyle around your business

Basically you live as you wish, doing the things you love and get paid for it. Easier said than done. For the motivation and incentive to leave the rat race, consider the picture below.

If you, dear reader, are not a rat, which I think you are not, consider this.

Now this is not a picnic and it has a serious chance of backfiring and smoking your own ass. But how I see this, it's a non-issue. As all the evidence shows, we are going to have this one life and we have to make every move count. Sure personally I will pussyfoot around sending one message now but I will send it, if not today then maybe tomorrow.

Back to skills and doing what you're good at. And to Rakim and how his example shed some light into sports I struggle in. The thing is, that what we have going on right now with our small team is pure skill, ignoring bar lines and norms as they are represented to us. Focusing to be the best we can be and achieving our goals. Public has no idea who's behind the results. The insiders know. This is just like it is with Rakim. The general public just wants to see the video not to know who made it. They want guns and sex - not rhymes about islam and superior skills.

I have been doing a bit of reflection into the current state of things. The reactions we have been getting are positive, the results speak for themselves and the skill level is just outstanding. Could we be witnessing a renaissance of sports as we know them? Maybe. Hope so.

Shall this be my personal leap of faith. The more I think it the more I see it as an only viable option. There are things I was not meant to be or at least I don't want to be. Chasing a dream is always a risk. I feel this is a risk I have to take.

If you think you have what it takes why not. And when I consider the people I'm with and their skill level, the athletes we got, I just have to be proud. If this was America we would be swimming in corporate sponsor money and driving Escalades and dating super models. Maybe this is better, keeps a man humble. Alone in a 2005 Renault. Peace.
