Why you even wonder why

Swimming European champs have been going for this week and for our outfit, Sprinttitalli, they have been quite good. We have witnessed new PBs for both Mimosa and AP. There has been numerous semifinal appearances and even finals. This has been covered well in social media and also some of the main newspapers have made story or two about our athletes. It would seem so that we have a nice flow going on here. There is a feeling that the general public, the people we do sports for, the backbone of pretty much everything, is riding with us. There is a certain amount of swag associated with us, brash branding and out spoken people who don't settle for excuses. But believe me for we are humbled and keep working hard. Do our own thing and let others do theirs.

They ask why and how. This reminds me of Lenny Kravitz when he was asked why he's always surrounded and associated with beautiful women. Lenny said he don't understand the question. It's obvious. This is how I feel about our athletes and coach. How could it be otherwise? We didn't come to play. We came to run this town. And this is what we do. But to go there and achieve this - no easy feat. And the medals are still missing but time for reality check. This is just a start. We went in as underdogs and came back with something different. 

Like mentioned before this is no accident. But the road has really been rocky with plenty curves and set backs. What we have rolling for us is talent in the form of our athletes. No dispute. We have one of the best coaches if not the best in the country. We have the knowledge and expertise of the sharpest analytical mind that could make it anywhere but chose to do it here with us. We have a guy with vision unparalleled anywhere and skillset second to none. This is how we roll. This is why this was inevitable. We had the drive and the skills to do this. Whatever success we might have is for the fans, for the athletes and for a nation hungry for victories. We do this for zero economical compensation. Our athletes pay us zero for the training. This is why It's a must to be real and tell about the haters that try to stop us. For what end I can't fathom the logic. 

There has been no free lunches on this trip. Our athletes have experienced what it means when the club you represent literally closes door in front of you. They have been made to endure apartheid, they have been made small, pawns and their sacrifice has been dissed. Our coach has been laid off, replaced by 14 in a dozen coach who has no pedigree, stabbed in the back by the club he was part making happen in the first place and harassed by the chief of the swim facility to no end. Others. The usual. Sometimes No money occasionally no job always no problem. It's been a versatile ride. We feel no hate for those who try to stop us. What we feel is amazement. Does it hurt that the level of our nations swimming goes up. When all the light had gone we turned for help. We needed to make our plea heard. Our athletes need equal chances to train. We turned to swimming federation, we turned to Olympic committee, we turned to the city. We turned to club they all come from. We got back shit. Now we are talking semifinals, we are talking of Rio. We are inspiring the swimming enthusiasts. We are providing and delivering. We are doing the job you are paid to do. For free. And with smiles on our face. 

But this is no negativity trip we're on. And this is the part that really blows me off. The thing we have going on. It's part swimming, part motorcycle club and all movement. We got private people donating few tens of euros, we have a guy that makes our t-shirt go around and see things. We got a major hi-tech company partnering with us and providing tech goodies. We got some entrepreneurs from Savonia, Finland providing support. We got positive response from other clubs. You all know who you are. Be proud of the achievements of the athletes. None of this would be without you. The way we see it - we all want this swimming thing lift off and reach the stars. Or die trying. Swimming is made from grassroots. Grassroots is the swimming. We want to bring success to the people. And the athletes. The progress can't be chained.
